Douglas and Johnson Funeral Home was founded in 1991 by J. Tyler Douglas and James L. Johnson. Both of these funeral directors created a legacy of service and compassion. Our staff continues to provide each family with the utmost care and compassion. The funeral home remains family-owned and operated. One item that has remained constant is our continued commitment to meeting the changing needs of the families that we serve.
Our history
Susan Douglas Hopkins is the President of the firm and is a fifth-generation funeral director. She has been in the funeral service for over two decades. Her gentle and compassionate demeanor is appreciated by the families that she is honored to serve. She lives in Salem and has 3 children and 4 grandchildren who are the light of her life. Susan is an active volunteer in her community and believes in the importance of giving back. She is a member of the Salem Kiwanis Club, the Salem Lions Club, and the Salem Area Women’s Club, GFWC.
Tyler Douglas was a fourth-generation funeral director. He retired after working in the funeral service for 76 years. He has been in the funeral service since childhood, working with his father's firm, Douglas Funeral Home in Methuen, MA.
