Susan Hopkins
Owner-Funeral Director
Susan Hopkins, a fifth-generation funeral director, embodies the heart of compassionate care and unwavering community commitment. She learned early the profound importance of supporting families during life’s most difficult moments. With service as her guiding principle, she has dedicated her career to providing families with dignity, empathy, and personalized care, honoring the legacies of those they love.
Susan has been in funeral service for over 20 years and is the proud owner of Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home in Salem, a firm started by her father, J. Tyler Douglas and Jimmy Johnson. Her gentle and compassionate demeanor is appreciated by the families she is honored to serve. Susan is blessed to have a wonderful staff who share her devotion to service.
A devoted mother of three and grandmother of four, Susan’s family is the light of her life and family values shine through in everything she does. This spirit of service has remained a constant throughout her life.
Susan is a member of several Salem organizations, including the Salem Area Women’s Club and the Salem Kiwanis Club. She serves as a member and board member of the Salem Lions Club, and as a founding member and board member of the Salem Friendship & Garden Club. She is on the Board of the Walnut Grove Cemetery. She served on the NH State Board of Funeral Directors and Embalmers and was involved in the Fisk School PTA.
In her free time, Susan cherishes moments with family and friends, enjoying peaceful days at the lake and dancing with the Showstoppers.

Apprentice Funeral Director
Matthew is a compassionate and dedicated funeral director in training. With his gentle demeanor and attention to detail, he provides support and guidance to grieving families during their difficult time. Matthew is known for his professionalism, empathy and ability to handle even the most challenging situations with grace and dignity. He makes sure that each funeral service is personalized and respectful, honoring the memory of the deceased in a meaningful way. He lives in Salem with his wife and is the Vice President of the Friends of Salem, NH Recreation non-profit as well as the Secretary of the Greater Salem, NH Rotary Club.

Carrie Cranfill
Funeral Director
Carrie Cranfill, Funeral Director, was born and raised in Vermont and now calls Salem, New Hampshire, home, where she lives with her husband. She has two children. Deeply dedicated to her community, Carrie is an active member of the Derry-Salem Elks and volunteers her time at the Salem Senior Center. Known for her compassion and warmth, she brings those same qualities to her work, helping families through difficult times. Outside of her professional and volunteer life, Carrie is an animal lover who enjoys spending time with her family and pets.
